Efficient Home Services provides home energy audits, blower door testing and insulation for homeowners in Dover, Rochester and the surrounding Strafford County towns. Our base in Berwick, Maine is just across the Salmon Falls River from Somersworth and Rollinsford, so Dover and Rochester are a short drive away.
Mill-City Homes and Newer Neighborhoods
Dover and Rochester both grew up around mills on the Cocheco River, and their older neighborhoods still have plenty of nineteenth and early twentieth century homes: multi-family houses, Victorians and modest workers' homes, many with plaster walls, little or no wall insulation and drafty attics. Farther out you'll find farmhouses, mid-century capes and ranches, and newer subdivisions. Each type of house has its own weak spots. Older homes tend to leak air at the attic floor, rim joists, chimneys and around windows and doors, while newer homes can have insulation installed with gaps or air sealing that was skipped.
An energy audit measures how your particular house performs, so you can put your money into the fixes that make the biggest difference instead of guessing.
What's Included
Every audit includes a blower door test to measure air leakage and find the drafts, an infrared camera inspection to spot missing insulation and hidden leaks, and combustion safety testing for your heating equipment. Optional duct leakage testing is available where needed for homes with forced-air ductwork. You get a written report with costs, estimated savings and prioritized improvements. Read more about our home energy audits.
NHSaves Rebates
New Hampshire homeowners may qualify for incentives through NHSaves programs offered by the state's utilities, including programs that start with a home energy assessment and help with the cost of insulation and air sealing. Programs and eligibility change, so call or email us for help, and see our New Hampshire rebates page.
